Hello! I am Beth Costanzo, an early childhood educator, author and creator who has spent more than 35 years helping young children learn, grow, explore and discover the joy of reading.
I believe some of childhood's most magical moments begin with four simple words.
Once upon a time…
A story can make a child laugh, calm a worried heart, introduce a new idea, inspire an adventure, or turn an ordinary bedtime into a memory they will carry with them for years. That belief is at the heart of everything you will find here.
My books are created especially for young children, with colorful characters, gentle adventures, meaningful messages and plenty of imagination.
Some take children beneath the waves to meet fascinating sea creatures. Others explore friendship, kindness, confidence, feelings, family and nature.
And sometimes a story is simply meant to make a child smile.
After decades of working with young children, I know they learn best when they are engaged, curious and having fun.
That is why so many of our stories and printable activities are built around early literacy, letters and sounds, vocabulary, social and emotional learning, creativity, nature and science.
Children think they are enjoying a story. We know they are learning.
Before I was an author I was an educator. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Lesley University and my Master's Degree in School Administration from Endicott College, and I am trained in the Wilson Reading System.
That experience shapes every story I write. I know what repetition, rhyme, colorful imagery and relatable characters do for a small child.
When a child asks for the same book a tenth time, you have found a keeper.
Our story began with The Adventures of Scuba Jack, an educational world created to make learning exciting for young children.
Over the years that small idea grew into a collection of more than 170 educational titles, printable learning resources, activities, videos and songs enjoyed by children, parents and educators. Our educational YouTube community has grown past 150,000 subscribers, and The Brave Little Crab received a Book Excellence Award.
But the accomplishment that matters most is a child asking, can we read it again?
This little bookstore is our newest chapter. It is a place for parents, grandparents, teachers and caregivers to find stories that make childhood a little more magical.
Whether your little one is exploring a tide pool, following a fluffy little duck on an adventure, learning how to be a good friend, meeting a very happy crab, or sailing off toward dreamland, I hope our books become part of the moments your family remembers. The snuggles. The giggles. The questions. The favorite characters. And that small voice asking for one more story.
Always say yes when you can. They are not little for long.
